One sunlit blessed morning I woke up
with the most robust and truthful
knowledge
that I had made eight appearances for the Arsenal
as a speedy and tricky winger
yes mostly as a substitute and a couple in the League Cup
back in the early George Graham days
which weren't all that glorious and
when many youth players were given a chance
After that my career kind of fell away
and I returned to my studies, at the
prestigious university from which
I had been plucked
but I was so proud to be in the history books
Of course this was nonsense, I was
barely good enough to make the second XI
of my mediocre university team

second division university, in old football money
